The mission of Evolve Landscaping LLC is to provide a landing spot for the area’s landscaping questions and service needs in a friendly and professional manner. We want to help EVOLVE client’s landscapes to raise their value, cultivate their beauty, and improve their functionality. We strive to provide client smiles by working both smarter and harder, finding creative solutions, and completing projects with integrity and craftsmanship. From consulting to maintenance. Designing. Joe is an MNLA certified professional and installs in accordance to ICPI and NCMA standards and specifications.

Co-owners Joe & Imia Mages
Our Story
Owner Joe Mages was raised in rural southern Minnesota. As a teenager he worked for a company that flipped houses and with that began dabbling in landscaping and hardscaping. In that time he developed a love for working outside and improving homes. However, at this point he was very much an amateur and was learning some valuable, hands-on, mistake-filled, lessons.
Joe went on to college to get a degree in Civil Engineering from NDSU in Fargo. While finishing school and searching for jobs in his degree he worked full time for a landscaping company in Fargo before taking a job with the North Dakota Department of Transportation. After some time working as a soils and concrete technician with the NDDOT he knew landscaping was where his passion was really at.
He enrolled at the Minnesota State Technical College and received a Landscape and Garden Center Technician diploma which furthered his education in things like landscape design, garden center operations, and horticulture.
Then Joe seeked out the top premier landscape companies in Fargo and was fortunate to land a job with his top choice, award-winning Signature Landscapes. https://www.signaturelandscapes.us/
Joe spent multiple seasons learning from the best in the region and working into a project manger position. He even had a hand in a 2015 NDNGA award winning project as a co-designer and installer. The project was built in his final season with the company.
In late 2013, Joe had a bittersweet moment in deciding to move back to the region to be closer to family and start one of his own. Not being able to give up landscaping, he started Evolve Landscaping and is a co-owner with his wife Imia Mages.

Before they had children, Imia would help on-site, at the shop, and in the office. She still oversees designs to offer a different perspective and lends a hand with office tasks when there's time. She is also the full-time social worker for GFW schools.
